Consider an FIV+ cat!

Many people pass over FIV+ cats, but they actually require no special care. Find out more about FIV+ and find out which cats might be a great fit for you!

Brooklyn Animal Action is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of Brooklyn’s animals. Working with our communities we find homes for adoptable animals, facilitate Trap-Neuter-Release programs, perform community outreach and education and advocate for animal welfare. Since 2010, BAA has found homes for over 2,000 cats (and a few dogs) and TNR'd hundreds more. We believe in working together to create a better life for New York's animals.

Help us find a home for these wonderful animals:
LOOKING FOR HOME: Ariella, Little kitty with a lotta love
LOOKING FOR HOME: Ariella, Little kitty with a lotta love

Female / Calico & Tortie Mix / Young
Rescued from the difficult streets of Brighton Beach, Ariella was struggling simply to eat and survive. This incredibly sweet girl is in dire need of a foster home or an adopter! She is quite intimidated by other cats, and is presently with a rescuer that has many other cats, so she has to spend most of her time in a cage. While it is far better than living on the streets, she deserves a loving home where she can roam free and be adored! Ariella loves attention, being petted and to head-butt your hand for more of your affection. She ADORES humans, but would do best as your one-and-only, so she can get all the affection and pampering she deserves after her rough life outdoors. 🙂 To meet this affectionate kitty, email Tara Green at catsbkny@gmail.com.

LOOKING FOR HOME: Minnie, Sweet Bombay Mix!
LOOKING FOR HOME: Minnie, Sweet Bombay Mix!

Female / Onyx / Young
Lovely kitty Minnie is very sweet. Go to her, pet her, give her love and kindness and she will give it all back. She loves attention! This poor sweet girl was clearly someone’s pet and is learning to trust again. She was rescued at NYCHA housing projects and poor little thing just needs some time to believe humans are kind. She loves to play when no one can watch so you know she would love to play once she is comfortable in a home. Minnie is good with kids, dogs, and other cats. To meet this darling, please email BrooklynAnimalAction@gmail.com.

LOOKING FOR HOME: #1 Lapcat Devo!
LOOKING FOR HOME: #1 Lapcat Devo!

Male / White & Black / Young
Devo is a ham as well as one of the sweetest and calmest cats we have ever rescued. He definitely seems like an “old soul”. He is gentle and perfect with children. He loves to rub up against your legs, roll around on the floor and charm you. He loves company, hanging out with other people all the time. He plays with cat toys, like stuffed mice and balls, string and furry things, so he’s really really fun. He will sometimes sleep on you if you invite him. He lays around in all sorts of positions and is a very interesting cat. Devo tested weak FeLV+, nothing special needs to be done, he can live a long happy life as a sweet family indoor pet. If you’d like to learn more about the amazing Devo, please contact BrooklynAnimalAction@gmail.com.

  • @reebokclassics //\\ We are Linsky & Sturgill, Bonded Bombay Beauties! :: Rescued recently from a backyard in Bay Ridge—along with their siblings, Ebby and Boo—Linsky and Sturgill are a sister-and-brother Bombay duo who are sweet, sweet, sweet! Currently in a foster home, they’re looking to find that special place they can call theirs forever. Linsky is the girl, and she’s so affectionate, you’ll hardly believe it! She purrs up a storm, cuddles with her humans, and has so much love packed in her tiny kitten self. Sturgill, her brother, is also a regular purr machine, and is the more adventurous and playful of the two. • Post-tofurkey//🍗🍁Khaleesi Has the Cutest Tummy's Story... Rescued from Industry City in Sunset Park with her siblings a few months ago, this gorgeous girl is Khaleesi, currently searching for her forever home. She has the absolute cutest spots on her tummy—so how can you resist her? A brown tabby with stunning markings, Khaleesi loves to play with her foster brother and, like all young kittens, must be adopted with another kitty or go to a home with a playful cat to be her new best friend. Khaleesi may take a little time to trust new people, but once she does, she purrs so loudly you can hardly believe it, and really enjoys petting time. She’ll also roll over onto her back and show off those adorable tummy spots, and that’s how you know she’s comfy-cozy with you. Khaleesi tested negative for FeLV/FIV and is up to date on vaccines. She will be spayed when she is old enough. If you’d like to meet Khaleesi, contact Tara Green at catsbkny@gmail.com! 🍁

  • GEORGE ❤️'s HUGS! // George Loves Hugs's Story... George is an amazing cat. He is the nicest guy, loves petting, loves attention and loves to be held. He really is not only a fabulous survivor, but an absolute angel. Everyone who meets him totally falls for him. He gets along fine with other cats and is simply very easy going. One would never know that he was in truly one of the most shocking cases of abuse and neglect we have ever seen (if you want to see what he looked like then, we can send you pics). We know he was a house cat who was tossed out of the house because when we went to pick him up off the street, emaciated, weighing only 5.7lbs and badly injured, a woman came up to us and said, "My baby, Jaguar!" We asked if this was her cat and she said he had been but she put him out. We asked why but she wouldn't give an answer. Further, we couldn't understand how anyone who professed to care about an animal could let him suffer on the street the way he was clearly suffering. We renamed him so he w...

Further, we couldn't understand how anyone who professed to care about an animal could let him suffer on the street the way he was clearly suffering. We renamed him so he would have a new start, took him to the vet where he had to have extensive surgery and we have been caring for him ever since while he has recovered. He is finally doing quite well as you can see from his beautiful face, though his left eye and side of his face is slightly altered from what he went through.

Because of all he has been through, George now eats a particular diet to help his digestive system as he may have IBD. He is doing great on this though and now takes a little bit of steroid every other day. We hope eventually he may not need the steroid as he is doing so well on this: https://www.chewy.com/primal-chicken-salmon-formula/dp/43387

George has been neutered, microchipped, tested negative for fiv/felv, up-to-date with his vaccines and is ready for his forever home.

  • This is Sasha and Simone, who are super sweet, young bonded sisters who really need a hero (or two)! Their story is a sad one. They were nurtured by their human mom since they were about 2-3 weeks old.‎ While 2 of their siblings were adopted to a nice permanent home, Simone and Sasha ended up with irresponsible people, who surrendered the kitties to their rescuer about a year ago. Simone and Sasha are now being fostered by a wonderful young couple, who unfortunately can't adopt, being Australians who are going back home in May 2017. They are lovely cats: affectionate, playful, curious and super-funny, but this is only when they are at home with their trusted foster parents. When they were taken to Petco for adoption events, they were terrified, since they've been accustomed to home life! They really need a forever home of their own--one that will treasure and adore them as they deserve. If you're interested or would like to share them with a friend, let us know!
