Brooklyn Animal Action is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of Brooklyn’s animals. Working with our communities we find homes for adoptable animals, facilitate Trap-Neuter-Release programs, perform community outreach and education and advocate for animal welfare. Since 2010, BAA has found homes for over 2,000 cats (and a few dogs) and TNR'd hundreds more. We believe in working together to create a better life for New York's animals.

Help us find a home for these wonderful animals:
LOOKING FOR HOME: Grand the Gentle, Great Ginger
LOOKING FOR HOME: Grand the Gentle, Great Ginger

Male / Tabby – Buff & Domestic Short Hair Mix / Adult
Now known as Grand, after the street where he was found, this sweet boy purrs loudly and head butts his rescuer’s hand for more pets. Because he’s been on the streets, where not everyone is friendly, he needs a moment or two during which you prove he can trust you. Once you earn that trust, you won’t regret it. Grand’s incredible nature is a huge reward! Grand is neutered and up to date with vaccines. He tested negative for FeLV and positive for FIV—which simply means he needs to stay indoors, eat high quality food, and see the vet yearly, which all cats should. If you’d like to meet this gentle ginger, contact Tara Green at catsbkny@gmail.com!

LOOKING FOR HOME: Deaf Teddy Bear Orange Lovebug Cuddler!
LOOKING FOR HOME: Deaf Teddy Bear Orange Lovebug Cuddler!

Male / Orange / Young
Teddy is an absolute sweetheart, and will be your personal cuddler, purr up a storm and let you know that he adores you and is so thankful to be off the street. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, treated for fleas, tested fiv-/felv+, which means he needs to be a solo kitty or with pups but only with other kitties who are also felv+. He is also deaf! This poor boy really needs someone who loves an underdog. If you would like to meet this, sweetest of kitties, please contact claire@brooklynanimalaction.org

LOOKING FOR HOME: Noa, Gentle and Beautiful Bengal Mix
LOOKING FOR HOME: Noa, Gentle and Beautiful Bengal Mix

Female / Bengal & Domestic Short Hair Mix / Young
Recently surrendered along with her sister, Kitty—who is fortunately also up for adoption with Brooklyn Animal Action—Noa absolutely never deserved to be discarded. (No cat ever does!) But not only is Noa stunning on the outside, she’s equally beautiful on the inside, too—just like her sister, whom she loves very much. Now living at Green Farmers Pet Food in Park Slope—where you can drop by and visit Noa as well as her sister, Kitty, anytime during business hours!—Noa is a quieter than Kitty, a gentle girl who can be a bit shy at first. Noa is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and FeLV/FIV negative. If you’re interested in hanging with Noa full-time—or in meeting Noa and her sister, Kitty, together—contact Donna at straycatstrutnyc@gmail.com!

  • LITTLE PANTHERS: BLACK & BEAUTIFUL ::: Little Panthers is BAA’s special adoption campaign for black cats. We love all the dark and beautiful kitties in our care, and we know you will, too! ::: Unfortunately, black cats (and dogs) are less likely to be adopted. Despite being part of the sweet and affectionate tabby family, black cats spend more time waiting for a forever home, and are at higher risk for euthanasia in kill shelters. This phenomenon is known as Black Cat Syndrome. Some possible reasons for Black Cat Syndrome include: ::: The “genericness” of black pets: Some folks think black animals aren’t as cute. We couldn’t disagree more, and we bet our kitties below will dispel this myth. •Unclear facial features: Black animals sometimes don’t photograph as well, although with our wonderful photography volunteers, you’d never know it. •Negative portrayals of black pets in books, movies and other popular media: Black cats are sometimes associated with witches, superstition, and bad luck,...

(Plus, as a bonus for our NYC adopters: you don’t have to worry about these kitties’ fur being visible on your chic black clothes!) We hope you’ll enjoy getting to know our Little Panthers – they certainly can’t wait to meet you!"

  • ADOPT Charlie; The real New Yorker! Let Charlie keep you warm now and for the years to come• ::: Charlie is a true survivor. Having lived on the streets of Brooklyn for almost a year, you might think he has a bit of an edge to him, but in fact quite the opposite is true. When he was first placed with his foster he was a bit tentative, but now after spending a year getting used to having crazy humans around all the time he is very social and loves to snuggle. Even just being nearby makes him purr. He loves greet you at the door when you come home each day and he can’t wait to be scooped up for some cuddles. Although he’s very relaxed he loves to have a good time as well and will play with you and his toys for hours! A catnip mat and little orange toy fish are two of his very favorites. Charlie is also quite happy to spend his days sitting in the window watching people and cars pass by and admiring the view. He is definitely a New Yorker at heart. See his full listing here! ::: Charlie is a healthy, wel...

Charlie is a healthy, well-mannered (literally will not eat food that isn’t placed in his dish) 2-year-old boy who is neutered and up to date with all his vaccines and negative for FELV. Charlie did test positive for FIV which only means he has a weakened immune system. Healthy FIV+ cats have the same needs and life expectancy as any other kitty and require no special medication or care.
